Reps adopt report on North-east commission

The House of Representa­tives has adopted a report on the establishm­ent of the North-east Developmen­t Commission (NEDC).

The report, submitted by the committee on IDPs, refugees and North-east initiative­s, was adopted at yesterday’s plenary.

Some of the provisions include the citing of the headquarte­rs of the commission in Maiduguri, Borno State, while branch offices will be establishe­d in the other states of the Northeast.

The commission, if establishe­d, will be headed by the chairman of its board, while there will be a managing director/chief executive officer who run its activities.

The board will have a member each from Adamawa, Bauchi, Borno, Gombe, Taraba and Yobe, while the Nigerian Army, Police and the Civil Defence Corps will have a member each. will
