Reps adopt re­port on North-east com­mis­sion

The House of Rep­re­sen­ta­tives has adopted a re­port on the es­tab­lish­ment of the North-east De­vel­op­ment Com­mis­sion (NEDC).

The re­port, sub­mit­ted by the com­mit­tee on IDPs, refugees and North-east ini­tia­tives, was adopted at yes­ter­day’s ple­nary.

Some of the pro­vi­sions in­clude the cit­ing of the head­quar­ters of the com­mis­sion in Maiduguri, Borno State, while branch of­fices will be es­tab­lished in the other states of the North­east.

The com­mis­sion, if es­tab­lished, will be headed by the chair­man of its board, while there will be a man­ag­ing di­rec­tor/chief ex­ec­u­tive of­fi­cer who run its ac­tiv­i­ties.

The board will have a mem­ber each from Adamawa, Bauchi, Borno, Gombe, Taraba and Yobe, while the Nige­rian Army, Po­lice and the Civil De­fence Corps will have a mem­ber each. will
