Reps adopt report on North-east commission
The House of Representatives has adopted a report on the establishment of the North-east Development Commission (NEDC).
The report, submitted by the committee on IDPs, refugees and North-east initiatives, was adopted at yesterday’s plenary.
Some of the provisions include the citing of the headquarters of the commission in Maiduguri, Borno State, while branch offices will be established in the other states of the Northeast.
The commission, if established, will be headed by the chairman of its board, while there will be a managing director/chief executive officer who run its activities.
The board will have a member each from Adamawa, Bauchi, Borno, Gombe, Taraba and Yobe, while the Nigerian Army, Police and the Civil Defence Corps will have a member each. will
