Ntel ap­points Gen T.Y. Dan­juma new Chair­man

The nat­com De­vel­op­ment & In­vest­ment Lim­ited, own­ers of ntel, core in­vestors in the pri­va­tised Nige­rian Telecommunications Lim­ited (NITEL), has announced re­tired Gen­eral, Theophilus Dan­juma, as its new Chair­man. Gen. Dan­juma comes to the ntel board by virtue of his in­vest­ment in the com­pany.

A re­lease from the com­pany yes­ter­day said Gen. Dan­juma would be bring­ing to the ntel board his ro­bust com­mer­cial ex­pe­ri­ence cov­er­ing some three decades in the pub­lic and pri­vate sec­tors, fol­low­ing a suc­cess­ful ca­reer in the army from where he re­tired as a three-star gen­eral and Chief of Army Staff in 1980. He also served as Min­is­ter of De­fence in the first term of the civil­ian ad­min­is­tra­tion of for­mer pres­i­dent, Oluse­gun Obasanjo.

With Dan­juma announced as the new Chair­man, Olatunde Ayeni, lawyer and key pro­moter of ntel and un­til yes­ter­day the Chair­man of the board, is now the Vice-Chair­man.

Other members of the board are Capt. Ida­hosa Okun­bor, Bi­ola Ayeni, Kasheem Shet­tima, Phil Chukwu, Kola Adesina, John Dar­ling­ton, Dan Kunle and Tun­deO­mo­toba.

Wel­com­ing Dan­juma to ntel’s board, Ka­mar Abass, ntel’s Chief Ex­ec­u­tive Of­fi­cer, re­marked, “We wel­come his sup­port as we add mo­men­tum to our growth and de­vel­op­ment in Nige­ria’s tele­coms in­dus­try. We ex­pect to ben­e­fit enor­mously from Gen­eral Dan­juma’s ster­ling lead­er­ship cre­den­tials and, in this way, to build on the ex­cel­lent work of our im­me­di­ate past chair­man, Dr.Tunde Ayeni, who po­si­tioned ntel to de­liver the lead­ing broad­band ex­pe­ri­ences al­ready ev­i­denced in La­gos and Abuja.”
