KEDCO begins installation of smart meters in Dutse
Kano Electricity Distribution Plc (KEDCO) has commenced installation of pre-paid meters at the Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) within Dutse, the capital of Jigawa State.
This followed an agreement reached yesterday during a meeting between the state government and KEDCO’s management at the office of the Deputy Governor, Barr. Ibrahim Hassan Hadejia, a statement signed by KEDCO’s spokesperson, Mohammed Kandi, said.
Barrister Hadejia, who explained that the meter installation was necessary for accurate energy accounting, said the state government would continue to support the company towards improved power supply.
On the electricity debts the state owed KEDCO, the deputy governor ordered the constituting of a committee comprising KEDCO and state government officials to speed up the reconciliation of the outstanding debts before payment was made.
The chief operating officer at KEDCO, Mr Rahul Singh, commended the state government for convening the meeting, saying the company had a mandate to collect all its debts.
