KEDCO be­gins installation of smart me­ters in Dutse

Kano Elec­tric­ity Distri­bu­tion Plc (KEDCO) has com­menced installation of pre-paid me­ters at the Min­istries, De­part­ments and Agen­cies (MDAs) within Dutse, the cap­i­tal of Ji­gawa State.

This fol­lowed an agree­ment reached yes­ter­day dur­ing a meet­ing be­tween the state gov­ern­ment and KEDCO’s man­age­ment at the of­fice of the Deputy Gover­nor, Barr. Ibrahim Has­san Hade­jia, a state­ment signed by KEDCO’s spokesper­son, Mo­hammed Kandi, said.

Bar­ris­ter Hade­jia, who ex­plained that the me­ter installation was nec­es­sary for ac­cu­rate en­ergy ac­count­ing, said the state gov­ern­ment would con­tinue to sup­port the com­pany to­wards im­proved power sup­ply.

On the elec­tric­ity debts the state owed KEDCO, the deputy gover­nor or­dered the con­sti­tut­ing of a com­mit­tee com­pris­ing KEDCO and state gov­ern­ment officials to speed up the rec­on­cil­i­a­tion of the out­stand­ing debts be­fore pay­ment was made.

The chief op­er­at­ing of­fi­cer at KEDCO, Mr Rahul Singh, com­mended the state gov­ern­ment for con­ven­ing the meet­ing, say­ing the com­pany had a man­date to col­lect all its debts.
