Nigeria’s high profile professional golfers will storm Otukpo, Benue State from August 4th - 7th 2016 to do battle in the annual Ojerinde Memorial Tournament which tees off next Thursday.

Speaking tao Golf Digest yesterday, one of the golfers expected to shine at the event, Kano based Kamalu Bako said he’s all geared up for the tournament and hopes to come out on top on the log.

“It’s only few days away and there are going to be a lot of the top class professionals that will grace the tourney just like every year not forgetting there’s another event for amateurs, so it promises to be exciting,” the West Africa Golf tour second edition runnerup said.

Meanwhile, officials of St David Mark International Golf Club Otukpo have assured that the 220 golfers and other guests invited would have a peaceful and blissful time at the Ojerinde memorial event.

The assurance is coming against the backdrop of skirmishes among the local farmers and Fulani herdsmen which is threatening the peaceful coexistence of the people of the state.

A professional and principal officer of the club, Joseph Harvey, said all is being done to guarantee a hitch free event.

“Ahead of the Ojerinde tournament we are putting all logistics in place to guarantee a peaceful hosting. We are expecting at least 220 golfers from across the country that will participate in the tournament; the need for their security therefore cannot be compromised.

“David Mark Golf Club is a place that can host any golf tournament and the assurance of security is guaranteed; the course is in perfect condition for golfers to enjoy their game and the hospitality is okay too,” Harvey concluded.
