Three persons including the driver of a bus were killed in the wee hours of Saturday morning after it rammed into a moving articulated vehicle on the Abuja-Lokoja road.

Our reporter learnt that the five other passengers who sustained various degrees of injuries were taken to hospital by officials of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) at Yangoji.

A witness said the accident happened at about 5:23a.m. after a J5 Peugeot vehicle with registration number MKR 275LD loaded with kola nuts rammed into an unmarked articulated vehicle, killing the three persons on the spot.

When contacted, the Yangoji unit commander of the FRSC, Assistant Corps Commander (ACC) Joseph Samgbaza, confirmed the incident.

He said the three corpses were deposited at the Kwali General Hospital morgue, while two injured victims were also the taken to the hospital.

“But three other injured victims were taken to the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital at Gwagwalada,” he said The Secretary of the Local Education Authority (LEA) in Kuje Area Council, Mr. Danladi Bulus, has said employment and replacement of teachers is still pending following an ongoing verification exercise.

Bulus stated this shortly after he held a meeting with administrative staff of the LEA on Thursday.

He said plans were on to reform the education sector in the council, and assured that there won’t be compromise while effecting the necessary changes.

He said strict steps are being taken to ensure the present administration plans for education to succeed.

Our reporter learnt that the LEA secretary has ordered all the teachers across the 104 primary schools to ensure discipline in order to uplift the standard of education in the area.

Bulus, said the LEA under him won’t tolerate any act of indiscipline which, if overlooked, will destroy the entire system.

“Besides, the new phase of employment will be strictly based on competence with a minimum qualification of National Certificate in Education (NCE).

“If you meet up with our education standard, you will be employed but nothing like coming in by proxy” he said.
