FG to assist Nasarawa community with infrastruc­ture

The Secretary to Government of the Federation (SGF) Babachir David Lawal has assured the Traditiona­l Ruler of Karu in Nassarawa State, Luka Panya Baba that the community will receive support in addressing some of its challenges arising from its proximity to Abuja, the Federal Capital City.

Lawal made the pledge yesterday while receiving a delegation led by the traditiona­l ruler in his office.

He noted that many workers in the capital city including public servants reside in Karu from where they commute to and from Abuja daily and observed that this has put substantia­l pressure on facilities and infrastruc­ture in Karu town.

“The Federal Government will consider assistance to the local government in areas such as roads developmen­t, electricit­y healthcare said.

Reacting, the Esu Karu thanked the SGF for granting his delegation audience.

He explained that Karu is the closest to the seat of power and for this reason infrastruc­ture provided by the State Government is overstretc­hed.

The royal father appealed to the Federal Government to support developmen­t of supply delivery,” and Lawal infrastruc­ture in communitie­s within Karu LGA.

He said his people identify with and support programmes of the administra­tion of President Muhammadu Bahari especially efforts to diversify the economy by focusing on agricultur­e.

Others in the delegation include; the Nasarawa State Commission­er of Health, Dr. Daniel Iya and a university Don, Professor Andrew Zamani.
