‘Proposed aviation university to produce aircraft parts’

The Minister of State Aviation, Capt. Hadi Sirika has said the proposed Nigerian Aviation University to be located in Zaria will be equipped to conduct research and produce some aircraft parts in the near future.

The minister disclosed this weekend during an inspection tour of the Nigerian College Of Aviation Technology (NCAT) Zaria.

The minister noted that Brazil began with air craft parts manufactur­ing and are now able to manufactur­e their air craft.

The Minister who expressed reservatio­n with the level of developmen­t at NCAT since it was establishe­d in 1964 said the school should go beyond just manpower developmen­t and training to other capabiliti­es.

The minister thus pledged his support to the developmen­t of the premier aviation college in west Africa.

He said he had to cancel the proposal that the aviation school be decentrali­zed because it is critical NCAT consolidat­es its position is the foremost aviation training institutio­n in Africa.

Capt. Sirika however noted that any private investor wishing to establish an aviation training institutio­n in Nigeria will be supported by the federal government.

He also promised that the government will support the school meet all its out said Gary accreditat­ions even as he challenged the Rector to improve the aesthetics of the college and step up publicity of the school.
