FGPL office invasion unjustifiable — Ag Chairman

- By Francis Arinze Iloani

The management of First Guarantee Pensions Limited (FGPL) has regarded as ‘invasion’, the recent visit of the office located in Lagos by the company’s erstwhile Vice-Chairman, Nze Chidi Duru.

This was disclosed in a statement made available to the Daily Trust in Abuja yesterday signed by the Chairman the Interim Management Committee (IMC) of the PFA, Comrade Issa Aremu, and the company’s Managing Director, Chima Akalezi.

The statement recounted that January 11, 2017, Duru in company of some individuals, invaded the company, disrupted operations.

“Nze Duru had alleged that PenCom had not complied with the terms of a Judgment, the execution of which he knew to have been stayed and with a pending appeal before the Court of Appeal,” the statement stated.

The statement said the invasion was without recourse to his pending appeal to the Supreme Court challenging his removal as director of the PFA and praying for an order of judicial review of PenCom’s removal order.

The management said it was embarrassed by the incident and regreted the trauma and physical assault occasioned on its staff by the erstwhile director.

“The desperate efforts to confiscate the personnel files of his siblings currently facing criminal investigations, lap tops, official vehicles and physical demand for money to pay his hotel expenses was disgraceful conduct by the former legislator,” the statement said.

The management assured its clients that normalcy had been restored in the Head Office and business had since resumed.

When contacted, Duru explained that he could not have invaded a company he founded and is currently the largest shareholder.

He said he had not been to the company in the last six years and only visited recently in compliance with a court order to access the company’s audited financial account.

He said he had invested over N250 billion in the company and still could not access the financial records of the company for six years.
