Nasarawa Utd plan more misery for Rangers

- By David Ngobua

Nasarawa United FC have vowed to inflict more misery on defending champions Enugu Rangers when they meet today in their week two clash at the Lafia Township stadium Lafia.

Rangers suffered a 1-2 defeat in their opening match of the season at home against neighbours Abia Warriors, while Nasarawa United held Wikki Tourists to a 0-0 draw in Bauchi.

Consequently, while Rangers will be aiming to bounce back from the humiliating defeat, Nasarawa United will be out to build on the vital away point obtained in their first league match of the season.

Chairman of Nasarawa United, Barrister Isaac Danladi said his side will go out to pick the three points as he said his boys are in high spirit.

In a chat with Daily Trust yesterday, the acting Chairman of Club Owners said as defending champions, Rangers will give everything to repair their bruised reputation but they will be up against a highly motivated side.

Danladi maintained that Rangers parade some of the best players in the league but they won’t stop his side from celebrating their first victory at home in the ongoing season.

“We are all set for the big clash. This is one of the biggest matches we are going to play this season.

“It will not be an easy game but Rangers won’t escape defeat in our hands. They are star studded but we are also not lightweights.

“We respect them as the defending champions but that won’t deter us from doing what is expected of us.

“They will suffer their second defeat of the season. We shall beat them fair and square. It will be tough but victory is ours,” he assured.

Danladi also said it will be important to return home with a bang so victory is all Nasarawa United need to re-open their renovated stadium.

“We are also happy to be back home. It was not easy playing our home matches away from home. This is our first home match at home in a long while so we are going to give our fans something to celebrate.

“We need a match of this quality to re-open our stadium. I call on our fans to come out en masse to cheer us to victory,” he appealed.
