- By Abubakar Sadiq Isah

The Fadama III office of the FCT Agricultural Development Secretariat on Tuesday organized a pre-disbursement capacity building training for its first batch of rice, sorghum, tomato and cassava farmers in the territory in Gwagwalada.

In his speech, the FCT Fadama III project coordinator, Alhaji Abdullahi D. Salisu, said the additional financing project, ESS, aims to scale up the impact and development effectiveness of the project.

He said the project will be done by aligning it more closely with the federal government‘s agricultural transformation agenda which was adopted by the government of Nigeria in 2011.

Also speaking, the national coordinator of Fadama III, Mr. Herbert Ben, noted that the implementation of Fadama III Additional Financing (AF), which he said was as a result of the success recorded by the parent project was aimed at scaling up the parent project’s impact and development effectiveness.

According to him, the Fadama III project has significantly achieved its set objectives, saying a lot of work, however still needs to be done, especially against the backdrop of acute poverty and limited employment opportunities in much of rural space and the pre-urban areas of Nigeria.

On his part, the Acting Secretary of the Agricultural Development Secretariat, Dr. Musa A. Aliyu, said the FCT minister has graciously approved the release of outstanding counterpart fund in order to ensure the Fadama coordination office meets up with its eligibility hurdle.
