Kidnappers in military camouflage abduct 4 in Lagos

- From Eugene Agha, Lagos

A 10-man gang of kidnappers in military camouflage struck once again, but this time at a farm at Epe area of Lagos and abducted a female who had just finished her national youth service.

Though, the names of the three others, all males, could not be ascertained by press time, the former female member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) was identified as Ifeoluwa Olabiyi.

It was gathered that the latest victims were kidnapped at the weekend by the gang who stormed the farmland from the waterways in two speed boats.

The armed kidnappers were said to have stormed the Tanda farm and after shooting sporadically into the air to scare off any rescue attempt, made away with four persons.

Already, the kidnappers were said have asked for a ransom of N5 million each, making it a total of N20 million for all four persons.

According to sources, the farmland was the same one the kidnappers had struck sometime last year and abducted some farmers. The source said this time the heavily armed kidnappers left with three farmers and the female who had finished her service year and was employed at the farm. “Note that she has always been a worker at the farm but left for service. She was employed at the farm about two weeks ago,” the source said.

However, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Police Command, Fatai Owoseni, who debunked the news, said he personally visited the supposed scene of kidnapping but could not confirm it.
