Police arrest 20 suspects, recover cars, guns in Gwarinpa
The police in Gwarinpa have arrested 20 suspects over cases of theft and house breaking and recovered seven vehicles suspected to have been stolen.
The Gwarinpa Divisional Police Officer, CSP Nuruddeen Sabo, who made this known during a security stakeholders meeting on Saturday, said the division also foiled four robbery attempts in the area within three months.
Nuruddeen attributed the success recorded within the period to the synergy between residents and the police, adding that “Police can only achieve their goal if there is cooperation from the public by giving us intelligence reports.”
Stakeholders including estate managers, owners of plazas, representatives of banks, elders, residents and petrol station owners, during the meeting, expressed their readiness to work with the police in ensuring that the district is peaceful.
They said such synergy would boost economic activities and improve socioeconomic lives.
The DPO said four persons suspected to be car snatchers were arrested with three locally made pistols and that when a robbery was averted at Gwarinpa plaza, a suspect was arrested and a pistol recovered.
“Seven recovered vehicles through were good intelligence reports and timely response while four attempted robberies were averted in various locations,” he said.
He said the suspects in the various cases were charged to court and residents could go about their businesses and activities peacefully.
One of the participants, the secretary of Community Safety Partnership, Moses Obisesan, assured the police on the readiness of the residents in collaborating with them to ensure a safer community.
