- By Taiwo Adeniyi

A 28-year-old stylist, identified only as Abdullahi, has been arrested for allegedly stealing the tailoring equipment in a shop he was employed to work.

Police sources said the incident happened sometime in 2016 but the suspect was arrested last Thursday.

A police source said the victim had employed the stylist in the tailoring shop in Gwarinpa for a month with an agreement that the proceeds would be shared in four places.

The source said the suspect allegedly stole a sewing machine, generator, standing fan, four pieces of clothes from the shop after working for three weeks and fled Gwarinpa at the end of 2016.

“After giving him all these items, after three weeks he packed everything and ran to an unknown location,” the source said, adding that the victim however held the guarantor responsible.

“The police taught the guarantor a tactic to use in arresting the suspect and it worked,” the source added.

The Gwarinpa DPO, CSP Nuruddeen Sabo, said the suspect was arrested in Garki with the collaboration of the guarantor.

He said the suspect confessed to have packed the items to his village in Oke Nasarawa State.

“He took us to Oke, Nasarawa State where we recovered all the stolen items except two pieces of cloth from his shop,” he said.

He said the items were released to the victim on bond and the suspect would be charged to court.
