Al-Makura commissions N2.5bn roads, bridges in 4 communities
Governor Umaru Tanko Almakura of Nasarawa state yesterday commissioned a network of roads and bridges in four communities spread in three local government areas totaling over N2.5 billion.
The governor also flagged off the construction of Rinze-Ancho bridge and 14-kilometre Anguwan Zaria-Ancho-Andaha road at the cost of N519 million to Brosino Investment limited.
Almakura who gave contractors six months within which to complete the projects, said the projects were meant to boost socioeconomicactivities in the areas and add value to the lives of the people who had endured much hardship over the years.
Commissioning the Bokoko bridge in Kokona local government constructed at N379 million, he said government was resolute on timely completion of the projects despite paucity of funds, given the critical role it would play in connecting Kokona-Agwada-Udege Mbeki.
Almakura said despite paucity of funds, government was currently constructing 675 culverts and bridges in communities across the state.
In Karu local government area, the governor commissioned the Kunawi bridge at Mararaba Gurku, along the New Orange Market, which was constructed at the cost of N302 million. On the old Orange market site, he said a school would be constructed at the site to complement the three-tier housing estate to be constructed there for low, medium and high income earners.
Almakura also commissioned the 5.7-kilometer Karu International marketAnguwan Hashimu road which was constructed at the cost of N1.5 billion.
