…Track wife’s killer to hideout

- From Eugene Agha, Lagos

Police detectives have tracked a 30-year-old man, who allegedly murdered his wife and her five-year-old son to his hideout in Lagos.

It was gathered that the suspect, Elvis Alhuaen allegedly beat his wife, 28-year-old Blessing Ajayi, to death and later dumped her body in a septic tank behind their house at Iba area of Lagos.

It was also learnt that after dumping the deceased body in a tank, the accused went ahead to strangle her five year old son, Ogomide.

The suspect was said to have shattered the boy’s head with a stone before dumping his body in a bush near Iba Bridge on LASUIba road.

Though, the incident was said to have happened on August 21, 2016, at about 11.00p.m, the suspect was traced to his hideout only months later.

“The matter was later reported at Igando police station and the incident was immediately traced to the suspect because some items found on the body of the deceased led detectives to believe that she may have been killed by her estranged husband.

“The decomposed body of her son was later found in the bush,” the source said.

When the suspect was brought before an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrate court on Friday, the chief magistrate, Mrs Oluyemisi Adelaja, ordered that Aihuaen be remanded at the Ikoyi Prisons, pending the advice of the state Director of Prosecutions.

The accused, who resides on Omolaja Street, Obadore, Igando, a Lagos suburb, was charged with killing 28-year-old Blessing Ajayi and her son, Ogomide.

The prosecutor, Inspector Chinalu Nwadione, said the offences contravened sections 221 and 163 (B) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2011.

The case has been adjourned till March 1, 2017.
