Falode preaches NFF unity ahead CAF polls

-

Recently appointed Nigeria Women’s League Chairperson, Aisha Falode, has appealed to stakeholders in Nigerian football to come together and work as one for the good of the country, even as she mourns the sudden passage of the wife of Sports Minister, Solomon Faking.

Falode, who spoke from Gabon, venue of the ongoing Total African Cup of Nations, said she was making the plea against the backdrop of reports that the Executive Committee of the NFF is polarised over political ambitions of some members.

She said she was not happy with the development and wishes that all disagreement are settled in house instead of resorting to the media ahead of the CAF elections in March.

“I know the NFF President, my dear brother Amaju Melvin Pinnick, may have stepped on toes in the course of running the federation but we must remain steadfast and united when we are fighting for positions in international organisations, otherwise we make mockery of our giant status in the continent.”

She also commended her constituency, the South South geo -political zone in the country for standing by the NFF leadership but noted that there was need for more cohesion and unity from the region.

“It pains me when our brothers and sisters from other regions say we are the ones causing the rift in the NFF and while I disagree, I will appeal to our people to be more united and not wash our linen whether dirty or clean in public.
