Community thumbs up Wike, tells Nwuche to return to PDP
The people of Ekpeye kingdom in Rivers State have commended the state governor, Nyesom Wike, for fulfilling his election promises with the flag off of the construction of the Edeoha/Ikata/Ochigba road that leads to the country home of former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Prince Chibudom Nwuche.
At the ceremony, held at the weekend at Edeoha UPE School field, Governor Wike, accompanied by PDP leaders, said he was at Edeoha to fulfill the promise he personally made to Nwuche during the 2015 election campaigns when he visited him at Ochigba.
“Despite the fact that Hon Nwuche later left the PDP for the APC, I remain committed to the promise as our administration will not play politics with development of the state, irrespective of the political party anybody belongs to,” Wike said.
Reacting to the development, the president general of Ekpeye Youth Congress, Comrade Dan Igbudu, commended Governor Wike for fulfilling his promise and commitment for the development of Ekpeye Kingdom.
The youth president also urged Nwuche to dump the APC and return to the PDP, saying his recent travails in the hands of security agencies over phantom contract funds were instigated by a former governor of the state.
He said Nwuche would continue to be suppressed in the APC adding, “Ekpeye as it stands now is entirely with the PDP and given Nwuche’s position as the political leader of the Ekpeye people, it is necessary that he remains with us for a purposeful leadership.”
