Igala urge Buhari to replace late Ocholi
The Kogi East caucus of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to appoint a man of Igala extraction as replacement for the late Minister of State for Labour, Barrister James Ocholi.
Ocholi died on March 6, 2016 in a car accident along AbujaKaduna road and since then, there has been no replacement.
The caucus, in a communiqué at the end of its meeting, yesterday, in Abuja, pleaded to the President to urgently appoint a minister from Kogi East Senatorial district of the state, which produced the late Ocholi.
The meeting was the first the zone convened since the death of two prominent leaders, the APC governorship candidate, Prince Abubakar Audu and the former minister of State for Labour, James Ocholi.
Those that attended the meeting included the APC zonal chairman, Prof. Isa Daniel, who is also the leader of the party in the eastern flank of Kogi; senators Emmanuel Dangana Ocheja and Abdulrahman Abubakar, House of Representatives members Benjamin Ikani Okolo and Hassan Omale among others.
The communiqué commended the efforts of Governor Yahaya Bello in piloting the affairs of the state.
It, however, urged the governor to reinstate all Igala sons and daughters who were sacked from the civil service on the grounds that they were ghost workers.
Speaking with reporters after the meeting, Prof. Isa Daniel described as mere rumour, reports that President Muhammadu Buhari might appoint a former deputy governorship candidate to Prince Audu, James Faleke as Ocholi’s replacement.
“You see, we are from Kogi East, late Barrister James Ocholi was an Igala man from Kogi East, and to us Igala nation, that is our slot. We would keep on appealing to President Muhammadu Buhari to kindly pick a replacement from the Igala nation,” he said.
