S/Kaduna crises: Indigenous tribes, CAN to dialogue with Fulani
Indigenous tribes in the southern part of Kaduna State and the state chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) have resolved to dialogue with the indigenous Fulani in the area on how to end the attacks ravaging the area.
This formed part of the resolution reached after a non-governmental organization (NGO), Global Peace Foundation of Nigeria (GPFN), met with over 60 representatives of native tribes and CAN at a Conflict Management, Resolution and Transformation consultation meeting which held in Kachia on Wednesday.
A statement by the Media and Communication Officer of the Foundation, Richard Pius Garba at the end of the meeting, said the Secretary of CAN, Kaduna State Chapter, Reverend Sunday Ibrahim echoed the association’s commitment to a round table to dialogue on how to reverse the crisis and return to the order of cordial relationship with the Fulani community.
Also, the representative of the World Alliance for Development, Mr. Jonah Yahaya stressed the need for the people to embrace peace and tolerate one another to attract development to their communities.
Similarly, the Country Representative of the KAICIID Dialogue Centre in Nigeria, Mr. Joseph Atang, appealed to the people to unite and work at exposing the perpetrators of the crisis.
Speaking separately at the meeting, the northern co-coordinators of the GPFN, Reverend John Joseph Hayab and Sheikh Halliru Abdullahi Maraya, said no society could live in peace except the people agreed to bury their differences and tolerate one another.
Earlier, the Country Director of GPFN, John Oko, said the meeting was convened to mediate in the peacebuilding process of the area after the Foundation met with the indigenous Fulani on how to end the crisis in the area.
