- By Abubakar Sadiq Isah

Six people lost their lives in separate accidents which occurred on Tuesday night at Gada-Biyu village, on the Abuja-Lokoja road.

Our reporter learnt that 14 people were also injured in two crashes and were evacuated by officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) to the hospital.

The Abaji unit commander of the FRSC, Assistant Corps Commander (ACC) Olasupo A. Esuruoso, confirmed the two crashes during an interview with our reporter in his office yesterday.

He said the first accident involved a Toyota Hiace bus with registration number DRD 15 XA and a Daf truck with registration number RAN 151 XA.

He said the bus which was coming from Lokoja hit the back of a truck, in which three persons lost their lives and nine others sustained injuries.

ACC Esuruoso said the second crash which occurred at about 9:34p.m. at Yaba junction, few metres away from the first one, involved a Ford car with registration number YAB 829 XB, adding that three persons lost their lives while five others were injured in the mishap.

“The two crashes were all as a result of wrong overtaking and over speeding. Besides, we have always cautioned drivers, especially those who travel at night, on the dangers involved,” he said.

The FRSC commander said the six corpses from the two crashes have been deposited at Abaji General Hospital morgue, while some of the injured were at the same hospital, adding that others were taken to Ayaura primary health centre in the area.

When City News visited the hospital, some of the victims were seen being attended to, while a mortuary attendant told our reporter that some relatives had come to claim some of the corpses.
