- By Mansur Abubakar

Kano Pillars say they will treat Sunday’s match against Nigeria Professional Football League new boys ABS at the Sani Abacha Stadium as if they are playing against the country’s senior national team.

In a chat with Daily Trust yesterday, the club’s media officer Idris Malikawa said that there are no pushovers in the top flight and every game will be treated like a final by ‘Masu Gida’ for they are aware the consequence of laxity might prove costly.

“As you know, every game in the top flight isn’t easy, so whether we are playing ABS or the number one team on the log, we prepare the same way in order to get the best result,” the spokesman noted.

Malikawa further call on Pillars fans to exercise patience with the team over recent results saying that the four time NPFL champions will do all they can to meet fans season.

Ilorin based side ABS after playing for three seasons in the second-tier Nigerian National League are performing brilliantly among the big boys so far as they are currently placed third on the league table registering three wins, a expectations this draw and a loss in their five games.

While their Sunday’s hosts Pillars will be looking for a quick change of fortunes considering they are 11th on the NPFL table which is well below their target of either scooping the league title or at least finishing in one of the continental places.
