Fresh move to reconcile Kwankwaso, Ganduje

- From Yusha’u A. Ibrahim, Kano

The Aminu Kano Centre for Democratic Research and Training, Mambayya House, has commenced a fresh move to reconcile Kano State Governor Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje and his predecessor, Dr. Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso.

A reliable source, who does not want his name in print, told Daily Trust that a highpowered committee of 16 notable people from the state has been constituted in that respect.

“The committee has already met with the two politicians and both have indicated readiness to forget their political differences in the interest of the state. Both Kwankwaso and Ganduje are committed to this move and we are confident that the effort would yield positive result,” he said.

The source added that though he didn’t want to pre-empt the centre’s efforts, but things have gone far in this fresh move and so far, everything was going smoothly.

“The issue would soon go public because the centre will call for public meeting where the two political gladiators would make speeches.

“According to the plan, the committee would invite media people to witness the reconciliation meeting so that they could publicize it. To be honest with you, this particular move will put an end to the lingering crisis between Kwankwaso and Ganduje.

“To the best of my knowledge, of all the moves earlier made to reconcile the two politicians, this is the only effort which the duo agreed to honour,” he said.

Ganduje served as deputy to Kwankwaso when he (Kwankwaso) was the governor of Kano State from 1999-2003 and 2011-2015 respectively.

However, soon after Ganduje became governor of the state, his relation with Kwankwaso became sour.

It would be recalled that the national leadership of the APC had earlier made some effort to reconcile the two politicians but the move failed halfway.
