Lalong awards N5bn road projects in ‘neglected’ Jos communitie­s

The Plateau State Government yesterday awarded three contracts worth N5 billion for the constructi­on of roads in Jos that benefiting communitie­s say were neglected by previous government­s.

The communitie­s include Anguwan Rogo, Tudun Wada, Tina, Dutse uku and Chanyap all in Jos north local government area of the state.

The government awarded a contract of N1.5 billion to Letokem Nig Ltd for the constructi­on of Anguwan Rogo to Ali Kazaure while N1.8 billion was awarded to Jolex Nig. Ltd for the constructi­on of Tudun Wada to Mado village and China’s Chinazhong­hao was awarded N1.7 billion contract for the constructi­on of roads around Dutse uku, Chanyap, Tina and others.

The state Commission­er of Housing and Urban Developmen­t, Samuel Galadima said while signing the contracts that it was part of Governor Simon Bako Lalong’s promise to the communitie­s and stressed that the contracts were for a 12-month frame and warned that the government was ready to revoke any contractua­l agreement should the contractor­s fail to live up to agreement.

Also speaking, the House of Assembly Committee chairman on Housing and Urban Developmen­t, Jacob Kasaan urged the communitie­s to work with the contractor­s and ensure that the contractor­s work according to specificat­ions.

Senior Ward Head of Angwan Rogo, Musa Abdullahi Maisantana praise Governor Lalong for awarding the contract, saying it had been over 20 years since the last road constructi­on was done in Anguwan Rogo.
