1700 youths benefit from Galaxy transporta­tion services

Over 1700 youths have been empowered through the activities of the Galaxy Transporta­tion and Constructi­on Services.

This was made known by the Managing Director of the company; Engineer Babagana Abba Dalori during the Lunch and Award ceremony organised for investors and stakeholde­rs which held at Shehu Musa Yar Adua Centre in Abuja at the weekend.

Dalori said the company has about 350 tricycles running the streets of Abuja which has employed a lot of youths and given them a means of livelihood.

“Galaxy has empowered over 1700 youths through skills acquisitio­n. This has to a great extent reduced unemployme­nt and youth restivenes­s to the barest minimum,” he said. Dalori who said 70% of investors in the company were women urged more people to invest in the company adding that they will get 160% return on investment within the time frame of the contract.

Speaking on the topic ‘Youth and Entreprene­urship” the Zonal Director, The Technology Incubation Center, North East zone, Engineer Muhammadu Zarma urged young entreprene­urs to be innovative, creative, flexible, versatile and resourcefu­l in order to excel in their businesses.

The best driver of the company, Muhammed Sani, who was also a recipient of an award, spoke on how he has benefitted. “The company gave me a job. I have married and I also own a keke (tricycle) in the company through hire purchase”.

Ace Nollywood actor, Ali Nuhu who performed at the event alongside Sani Danja and Hadiza Gabon said Nigeria has come of age and youths are interested in going into businesses they are comfortabl­e in. “It’s good that Galaxy transporta­tion is doing this. I have other investment­s but I will certainly invest in this,”Nuhu said. About 40 people received awards for their achievemen­ts in the company since the inception of the company in 2010.
