Thieves steal car batteries in Abaji

- By Abubakar Sadiq Isah

Four car batteries were said to have been stolen in the morning on Friday at Unguwar Ikporo in Abaji town.

A resident of the area, Musa Shaibu, whose car battery was also stolen, said the theft was discovered at about 4:12 a.m. when he went to warm his car.

He said he woke up early in order to get to the motor park to pick passengers, adding that when he opened his car bonnet, he discovered that the battery had been removed.

He said he was a commercial driver and plied the AbajiNasarawa road daily, adding that was the second time his car battery was stolen.

He told Aso Chronicle that three other vehicles also had their batteries stolen in the area that same morning.

He said the drivers of the vehicles came out in the morning only to discover that their batteries were removed.

“In fact, they broke one of the vehicles’ windscreen before they got the car bonnet open and removed the battery,” he said.

It will be recalled that two weeks ago, a car battery was stolen at Unguwar Abattoir in the area, but one of the suspects was arrested and paraded carrying the stolen battery on his head by a mob.

When contacted, the Abaji Divisional Police Officer (DPO), CSP David Kolo, said he was not aware of the incident, and that nobody came to report it at the police station.
