Open Letter to President Buhari

-

Dear Mr. President, I was amongst the people who voted for you to come to power, not because I was eager for PDP to go, but because you talked about what we, Nigerians, are going through, how we desperately need change.

You told us to expect change within 180 days of your presidency, I think this was a mistake on your part, you built people’s hope only for them to be crushed, you had too much self-confidence which is good and necessary to put plans to action but Rome was not built in a day, so 180 days was just exaggerating it, although people are suffering and dying from several problems all over Nigeria, I understand that in order to correct an improperly healed bone, you have to break it and reset it to heal properly, we had let this improperly healed bone to last for over 40 years and it is now that you are trying to break this bone so it can heal right. I admire your motive and the strength that you still have to do this job despite your age. You are like our father, and you try to correct us to your own morale.

You are carrying the burden of ruling and correcting the mistakes of the previous administrations and the people of Nigeria are getting impatient waiting for that change they so desire and for this recession to end, I don’t blame you for our sufferings. We had it coming for a long time. But you sir, our able minded president, could ease the sufferings for us, and I pray that you find a solution to our problems.

Many people see only the bad things of your regime quickly forgetting about the good things you have also done for us like the recapturing of Sambisa forest when we had all lost hope, the arrest and capturing of corrupt people who stole our money. What people fail to understand is that you are not perfect and every regime comes with its problems.

With this, I end my letter and wish you a rapid recovery and to continue with your work knowing that you still have followers behind you to support you.

God bless you and Nigeria. Ibtihaj Sanusi Bako, IBBU, Lapai, Niger State.
