hief Coach of the Super Eagles, Salisu Yusuf has said his visits at Nigeria Professional Football League venues in search of players have been fruitful.
The coach who is in charge of the Home-based Super Eagles has been mandated to search for players who would represent Nigeria in the forthcoming Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) in Kenya.
Consequently, since the commencement of the 2017 NPFL season, the former El-Kanemi, Kano Pillars and Enyimba FC coach has been visiting match venues to select players.
His latest visit was at the Aper Aku stadium in Makurdi where he reportedly picked two Katsina United players who excelled in their match against Lobi Stars.
In a chat with Daily Trust yesterday, the coach said the league is brimming with talented players and having gone round some of the match venues, he has identified some top talents for the senior national Team B.
He, however, said the search will continue as he maintained that he is sure there are even better players in the league who are waiting for him to watch them.
Yusuf also noted that his task is made easier by the quality of the league which he said has improved remarkably.
“I have been going round league venues and I can confirm to you that I have already identified good players. I am still going round and I believe that before the end of the first stanza, I would have identified even more players.
“On Sunday, I watched the match in Makurdi and I spotted two players that I want to watch in subsequent matches. I don’t want players who shine once and disappear.
“They have to be consistent. If I watch a player in at least three matches and he maintains the form that caught my eyes in the first match, I then know such a player has something to offer.
“This is a job I have to do thoroughly because my dream is to raise a formidable side that will win the first CHAN trophy for Nigeria,” Yusuf said.
