Tornadoes optimistic ahead clash with Plateau United

- By David Ngobua

Niger Tornadoes Technical Adviser, Abubakar Bala is confident his team will get a good result in their week 9 clash with table topping Plateau United on Sunday in Jos.

The young gaffer who guided his rookies to a 1-0 win over former champions Enyimba in their last home match, said they will take their blistering form into the match against Plateau United.

He told Daily Trust that Niger Tornadoes are meeting Plateau United just after they were handed their first defeat in the season, and that to him is enough to fire up Tornadoes.

Akwa United defeated Plateau United 2-1 in Uyo last Sunday to end their seven matches unbeaten run.

Bala said there is no better time to meet Plateau United than now that they have been brought down to earth by Akwa United.

“This is the right time to face Plateau United. Having suffered their first defeat in the season, they too must be jittery. Moreover, we have been on ascendency so morale in quite high in our camp.

“We are going to approach the match with greater confidence because we believe if we could do it against Rangers, we can also do it against any other team in the league.

“We are going to get at least a point from the match. It will not be an easy but we are determined to get a good result,” he assured.

Bala also reiterated that the 1-1 draw against Rangers in Enugu was actually the turning point for his team as he said the boys now believe more in their abilities.

The coach however said despite their good run in the past matches, there will be no iota of complacency as he maintained that every match in the league is difficult.
