Gunmen kill notorious criminal

Governor Simon Bako Lalong’s deputy Chief of Staff, Barrister Yusuf Gambo Hawaja has died.

Unknown gunmen at the weekend killed a suspected notorious criminal famously known as Wicked Chief and dumped his body along Buruku road in Yandev metropolis of Gboko local government area of Benue State.

Daily Trust deceased had reports been that the terrorizin­g residents of Gboko town and adjourning rural communitie­s for a very long time.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Moses Yamu, confirmed that the police received a report about a corpse found along the road in Yandev and swiftly removed it.

Yamu said it was after the removal of the corpse that it was identified as Wicked Chief, adding that the body had machete cuts in it, suggesting that he was hacked to death by his assailants.

“Informatio­n was received that an unidentifi­ed corpse was found lying along Buruku road in Yandev. Detectives arrived the scene and recovered the corpse which was later identified as one Wilfred Ahambee Torkuma, alias Wicked Chief, with machete cuts in his hands and legs,” he said.
