Saraki reads Buhari’s letter on Onnoghen tomorrow
Senate President Bukola Saraki will tomorrow read President Muhammadu Buhari’s letter on the confirmation of the acting Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Walter Onnoghen.
Our correspondent reports that the Senate is resuming plenary tomorrow. Regular sitting was suspended three weeks ago to enable Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) defend their 2017 budgets.
Spokesperson of the Senate, Senator Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi (APC, Niger) in a statement said Saraki will also read President Buhari’s letter extending his vacation.
Aside the letters, he said Senate will continue work on the 2017 budget and several economic priority bills which are at different stages of passage.
“From tomorrow, various committees are expected to start submitting reports to the Committee on Appropriations based on schedule earlier provided as a result of the conclusion of budget defence by MDAs.
“This will be followed by compilation of the reports by the Appropriation committee and engagement with the leadership of the Senate and interface with some committees where necessary. The last stage of the budget process will be laying of report at plenary by the Appropriation Committee as well as the consideration and passage of the Bill,” he said.
