PDP crisis won’t affect Ekiti gov’ship - Fayose

Governor Ayo Fayose said yesterday that the leadership crisis rocking the PDP will not affect the chances of its candidate in the next year’s governorship election in Ekiti State.

The governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Mr Idowu Adelusi, quoted Fayose as saying this during an interview on radio and television in Ado-Ekiti, where he also said the crisis in the party would be resolved by the Supreme Court.

The governor said Senator Ali Modu Sheriff and his group would never inherit the PDP illegally.

In the statement, Fayose, who is also the chairman of PDP Governors’ Forum, appealed to party faithful across the country not to be moved by Friday’s judgment by the Court of Appeal in Port Harcourt, Rivers State which upheld Sheriff as authentic chairman of the party.

Fayose described Sheriff’s success as one that would not last, saying whoever celebrated it “only celebrated nonsense.”

According to him, “Sheriff and his gang are only daydreaming. If they think they can inherit the party illegally, that is a pipe dream; those planning to invade the PDP secretariat should be warned. They must not toy with fire,” Fayose said.

On what would be their next line of action if the Supreme Court’s decision does not favour his group, Fayose said, “When we get to the bridge, we will cross it. When your wife is pregnant, you wait until the baby is born to know the name to give it. The essential thing is that we are not ruffled and we have the people on our side and we are also giving them our best by our service to them.”
