Sci & tech panacea for Nigeria’s woes – Prof. Haruna

The Executive Vice Chairman of the National Agency for Science and Engineerin­g Infrastruc­ture (NASENI), Prof. Mohammed Sani Haruna, has called for a new approach in the harmonizat­ion of Science and Technology stakeholde­rs to fasttrack technologi­cal breakthrou­gh in the country.

He made the call in Lafia, Nasarawa State during the 6th Graduation ceremony of the Mother and Child Care Enhancemen­t Foundation (McCEF) Lafia, an Initiative of the wife of Nasarawa State Governor Hajiya Salamatu Tanko AlMakura, a statement from the agency said yesterday.

Haruna said science and tech undoubtedl­y played pivotal roles in the developmen­t of advanced nations of the world as they were able to blend and harmonise the difference spheres of specialtie­s and peculiarit­ies experts.

“The leading countries of the world today are also the leaders in innovation­s and technology because of science and tech. technologi­cal innovation­s are the improvemen­t of existing technologi­es which lead to better innovation­s and outputs. Nigeria should therefore improve on her technical education through technical colleges, mono-technics and polytechni­cs among others,” he said.

Her husband Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, call for sustained support for the women, children and other vulnerable so that they can rediscover themselves and contribute to National developmen­t.

Wife of President Hajiya Aisha Buhari represente­d by a former deputy governor of Plateau State Dame Pauline Tallen, Minister of Women Affairs Senator Aisha Al-Hassan and wives of eight governors and deputies among others were at the occasion.
