Sci & tech panacea for Nigeria’s woes – Prof. Haruna
The Executive Vice Chairman of the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI), Prof. Mohammed Sani Haruna, has called for a new approach in the harmonization of Science and Technology stakeholders to fasttrack technological breakthrough in the country.
He made the call in Lafia, Nasarawa State during the 6th Graduation ceremony of the Mother and Child Care Enhancement Foundation (McCEF) Lafia, an Initiative of the wife of Nasarawa State Governor Hajiya Salamatu Tanko AlMakura, a statement from the agency said yesterday.
Haruna said science and tech undoubtedly played pivotal roles in the development of advanced nations of the world as they were able to blend and harmonise the difference spheres of specialties and peculiarities experts.
“The leading countries of the world today are also the leaders in innovations and technology because of science and tech. technological innovations are the improvement of existing technologies which lead to better innovations and outputs. Nigeria should therefore improve on her technical education through technical colleges, mono-technics and polytechnics among others,” he said.
Her husband Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, call for sustained support for the women, children and other vulnerable so that they can rediscover themselves and contribute to National development.
Wife of President Hajiya Aisha Buhari represented by a former deputy governor of Plateau State Dame Pauline Tallen, Minister of Women Affairs Senator Aisha Al-Hassan and wives of eight governors and deputies among others were at the occasion.
