No rift between Emmanuel, Akpabio — Commissioner
There’s no rift between Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State and his predecessor, Godswill Akpabio, the state Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Charles Udoh, has said.
He said this is evident in the continued developmental stride in areas of agriculture, infrastructure, youth empowerment and rural development in the state since the incumbent governor took over in 2015.
Udoh, who paid a visit to Daily Trust corporate headquarters in Abuja, said political stability has brought Akwa Ibom to limelight, adding that the new administration was doing a lot in the areas of social and economic diversification.
“Let me upfront that the relationship between my governor and his predecessor, the Senate Minority Leader is very good. And you can place that against the backdrop of the fact that His Excellency, Godswill Akpabio, is the reason why my governor is the governor today and therefore, the relationship is really good and will continue to be strong.
“Now, you’ll find people who would want to cause distraction, saying the two politicians are at loggerheads and all that, I’m saying look, that’s not true. Just last week, the second largest ethnic group in Akwa Ibom State, where Sen. Godswill Akpabio comes from honoured our governor as a grand patron and at that forum, the Senate Minority Leader clearly announced that there is no rift between the two of them,” he said.
He said apart from introducing new projects across the state, Governor Udom was continuing with those initiated by his predecessor.
