Lecturer, two bizmen freed after N14m ransom

A lecturer with Federal university Wukari and Two business men, Alhaji Abdullahi Gassol and Alhaji Shuwa kidnapped last week in Taraba state have regained their freedom after a payment of N14 million ransom.

The lecturer,Dr Leva Igdi, Alhaji Shuwa and Alhaji Abdulahi Gassol were kidnapped separately at Wukari, Gassol and Mutum Biyu last week by gun men and taken to unknown locations.

It was gathered that family of the lecturer paid 2 million Naira ransom while the families of two business men paid 9 million Naira and 3 million Naira ransom.

Daily Trust finding revealed that families of abducted persons alerted the police when they could not traced their where abouts.

The kidnappers it was gathered had ordered the men to call their relatives to deposit the money at a location in Wukari, Gassol and Mutum Biyu in order to be release.

A source closed to the families of kidnapped persons told Daily Trust that Few hours after the money was deposited at the locations directed by the kidnappers the men were released with their faces blind folded.

Contacted, police public relation officer Taraba command DSP David Misel confirmed the release of the lecturer and the business man abducted in Gassol.

He said the police has no report about the business man abducted in Mutum Biyu adding that police was not aware that any amount of money was paid as ransom.

DSP Misel further explained that police are on the trail of the criminals behind the kidnapping ring in the state and no arrest was made yet.
