Flour Mills appoints Salamatu non-executive director

Mrs. Salamatu Hussaini Suleiman has been named as an independen­t nonexecuti­ve director by the Board of Directors of Flour Mills of Nigeria Plc.

The appointmen­t took effect from March 8, 2017, a statement by FMN Plc said.

Salamatu Sulamatu obtained a Bachelor of Law (Hons) degree from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Kaduna State, in 1981 and a Master of Law degree with distinctio­n in Multinatio­nal Enterprise and Law from the London School of Economics and Political Science in 1987.

She commenced her profession­al career as a state counsel with the Ministry of Justice, Sokoto State in 1981 and later worked with Continenta­l Merchant Bank from 1988 to 1996 and NAL Merchant Bank from 1996 to 1997.

“She also worked as a secretary and legal adviser for the Aluminium Smelter Company of Nigeria. She was also the secretary and director of legal services at the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) between 2001 and 2008.

“She has worked in different sectors of the Nigerian government during the past 10 years. She was appointed as the Minister of Women Affairs and Social Developmen­t in 2008 and went on to become the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs in 2010.

“In February 2012, Sulamatu was appointed the Commission­er for Political Affairs, Peace and Security, Economic Community of West African States Commission (ECOWAS) and completed her tenure at the end of April 2016,” the statement said.
