A former Secretary General of the Nigeria Football Federation Alhaji Sani Toro says yesterday’s CAF elections in which Madagascar’s Ahmad Ahmad emerged as new President proves there’s nothing as constant as change in life.

The former House Committee on sports chairman was reacting to Ahmad’s victory over long time president Issa Hayatou in Addis Ababa in an exclusive chat with Daily Trust in which he added that he saw it coming considering Hayatou’s fall-out with the FIFA President Gianni Infantino and Secretary General Fatima Samoura.

“To be honest, I’m not surprised because change as they say is constant and as you can see the change mantra is happening all over the world. One of the problems Hayatou had was his falling out with FIFA President and his Secretary General and what do you expect, they used their influence to boot him out,” Toro noted.

On his part, Dr Tijjani Yusuf who also held sway as Secretary General at the Glass House was shocked at the result saying ‘wow’ when Daily Trust informed him of the development at first, adding that Ahmad’s victory is surely ‘upset of the century.’

“I hope this represents a new chapter for African football and to Issa Hayatou, I’ll say he should accept destiny, he has given his best to the continent especially increasing the World Cup slots to five which was massive,” he concluded.
