Okwe beat Zappa in Delta Principal’s Cup opener
Okwe Secondary School, Asaba defeated Zappa Mixed Secondary School also of Asaba by a lone goal in the opening match of the 2017 Delta/ Zenith Bank Principals’ Cup competition.
The ceremony, which marked the official opening of the schools Cup in Delta State, was witnessed by a capacity crowd, including the Deputy Managing Director of the financial institution, Ebenezer Onyeagwu, who assured that that the competition is not going to be a oneoff tournament.
“Everything will do at Zenith Bank, we do it with a lot of commitment and with the whole of our heart,” Onyeagwu said.
“It is not a case of touch and go, we are here for the long run, we just crave for finesse, professionalism, we won’t encourage hooliganism and also not engage schools using machineries.
“We have a biased for youth development one of which is sports development. This is not the first time the bank is supporting sports. It is on record that for almost 12 years now, Zenith Bank has been supporting the female basketball league.”
Delta state Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education in Delta State, Chiedu Ebie, said: “When this idea was conceptualised, we realised we have to partner a strong financial institution which bring us to Zenith Bank, it was a huge relief for us when they agreed to support the tournament.”
