A survey of retail stations in Abuja at the weekend showed that the price of Automotive Gas Oil (AGO) popularly called diesel which has since been deregulated fell by N20 and N35 per litre depending on the outlet where it was bought.

At A.Y.M Shaffa the price of diesel collapsed from N250 to N215 per litre. Diesel price at major marketer, Conoil dropped from N250 to N230 per litre at the weekend, one of its attendants told our reporter.

At Nipco stations, diesel is now N225 compared to N260 a week ago, our reporter also found.

A station manager in one of Total stations in Central Area said the price of diesel sank to N240 from N270 recently.

However, the price of kerosene remained steady at between N199 and over N200 per litre at few of the stations that had stock. The market survey also indicated that the price is even higher when bought at the black market where it is readily available.

Daily Trust reports that the drop in the price of diesel may not be unconnected with additional import volumes by the NNPC, complemented by the three refineries which were said to have started supplying products to the market.
