Accident claims 7 on Kaduna-Zaria road

A motor accident which occurred on the Kaduna-Zaria expressway yesterday claimed the lives of four women and their three children.

Daily Trust correspondent who was at the scene reports that angry residents of Barakallahu in Igabi LGA of Kaduna state where the accident occurred blocked the road to protest the incident, saying it was not the first time a driver would hit residents there.

It was gathered that the driver of the vehicle after loading passengers from Kawo motor park refused to pay the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTAW) loading levy and ran off.

A witness, Muhammad Tukur, said members of the union followed the driver, and that the commotion that ensured caused the accident, as the vehicle lost control and hit the victims.

The Police spokesperson, ASP Aliyu Usman confirmed the incident.
