One person was shot dead and two injured by the police in Anguwan Rogo, Jos, while they were allegedly attacking the police station in the area and attempting to take weapons from armed policemen.

Daily Trust gathered that the incident followed the arrest of a youth by the police who was part of a group conveying a corpse for burial yesterday afternoon. The youth was said to have accosted police officers who were controlling the traffic in the area due to ongoing road construction.

Witnesses said other youths had regrouped to vandalize the police station in an attempt to get the youth released. The witness claimed that the youths were infiltrated by members of the Sara-Suka gang who released a prisoner and attempted to wrestle weapons from police officers.

Police Public Relations Officer, Tyopev Terna and OPSH Media and Information Officer, Captain Adam Umar both confirmed that there was a situation at the Anguwan Rogo police station but said they were yet to be briefed.
