Yobe deliberates on post-insurgency recovery
The Yobe state government has convened humanitarian stakeholders retreat to chat way forward in coordinating humanitarian services for post insurgency recovery and reconstruction.
The state governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Gaidam who declared open the one-day retreat yesterday in Damaturu, said that given the humanitarian crises before the state, no government, agency or non- governmental organization (NGO) could handle the situation alone.
The governor said the retreat was organized to come up with a master plan to produce the working document to check cases of duplication and overlapping interventions in the state by government and humanitarian agencies.
Gaidam said the state government had embarked on rehabilitating and assisting the Internally Displaced Persons, most of whom had returned to their original settlements.
Also speaking, the vice Chairman, Presidential Committee on Northeast Initiative, (PCNI), Alhaji Tijjani Tumsa said convening the retreat was the first of its kind and would create a nexus of humanitarian and developmental development processes in the northeast.
