Benue PDP Rep joins APC

A member of the House of Representatives from Benue State has ditched the opposition PDP for the ruling APC.

Rep Hassan Saleh, who represents Ado/ Okpokwu/Ogbadibo Federal Constituency, announced his defection to APC in a letter read at yesterday’s plenary by Speaker Yakubu Dogara.

The lawmaker cited the leadership crisis in the PDP, which he said led to division in the party, as his reason for joining the ruling party.

The announcement of the lawmaker’s defection was, however challenged by a PDP member from Delta State, Ossai Nicholas Ossai, who said based on a recent court ruling, there was no division in the party.

He therefore urged Speaker Dogara to invoke the relevant section of the constitution on such matter by declaring Saleh’s seat vacant.

The call was however resisted.
