Odey strikes twice as MFM topple Plateau United

@shagcy Mountain of Fire and Miracles (MFM) Football Club striker Stephen Odey made his case for a Super Eagles callup with a brace in their 2-1 win over Plateau United in the reschedule­d Nigeria Profession­al Football League match played at the Agege stadium yesterday.

The victory also dislodged Plateau United from the top spot on the league’s standing, as MFM now lead with 27 points from 14 matches, while Plateau United are second with 25 points from the same number of matches.

Odey’s brace came in the 46th and 88th minute, as he takes his goals tally to 12. He opened scoring with a neat finish from a pass from Sikiru Olatunbosu­n and got the second in the 88th minute when he converted from the spot to give MFM the deserved three points.

Plateau United got their consolator­y goal through Peter Eneji in the 62nd minute.

Shooting Stars FC of Ibadan also defeated visiting Rangers FC of Enugu 1-0 climb to 13th on the table with 16 points from 14 games, while Rangers, who are campaignin­g in the CAF confederat­ion Cup, are 19th on the log with 12 points from 11 matches.
