former Super Eagles utility player, Garba Lawal has advised Nigeria Professional Football League man of the moment, Stephen Odey of MFM FC not to rush for trials in Europe.

After scoring 12 goals in 10 appearances in this year’s Nigeria Professional Football League, the young striker is the toast of many clubs in Europe.

One of such top clubs is said to be FC Brugges in Belgium, but the former FC Roda of Holland star said the player should concentrate on establishing himself in the domestic league and the Super Eagles.

In a chat with Daily Trust, the former Julius Berger and Esperance of Tunisia player said during their time they did not good to Europe in search of clubs.

He explained that such European clubs would come and clear them from their Nigerian clubs saying the present trend is disturbing.

Lawal insisted that once a player is good, he does not need to go for any trials in Europe but the club that needs his services will surely come for him.

The former international therefore said even as there are interests for the NPFL leading goal scorer, he has to be careful before he loses focus.

“It is good to know that European clubs are asking about the young man but from experience I want to advise him to be careful.

“I want him to concentrate on his present club which is the platform he is using to market himself.

“If he keeps up his performance, he will sooner than later play for the Super Eagles and his value will also shoot up. He won’t need to go for any trials.

“During our time, we hardly attended trails. Clubs came for us. If you are good, clubs will come for you. The present trend where players go after clubs in Europe is making them to be cheap commodities,” he noted.
