Cooperatives launch strategy to provide finance, healthcare to members
The ‘Co-operative Inclusive Strategy’, which will provide services to all categories of co-operative members by providing them access to finance, healthcare, pension and housing, has been launched
During the launch at the Abuja Cooperative Summit, yesterday, the Executive Secretary/CEO National Cooperative Financing Agency of Nigeria (CFAN), Mr Emmanuel Atama, said the cooperatives’ inclusive strategy was aimed at repackaging the works of the ordinary farmers, artisans, traders and other informal sector workers.
He said the initiative is to enable them have job security, and meaningful life.
“The strategy is also activating and providing global guarantees to cooperatives to enable them source finance to enhance their activities through the National Co-operative Development Funds (NCDF),” Atama said.
The president of Abuja Cooperative Federation, Chief Emeka Mbagha, in his address said the theme of this year’s summit, ‘Building Capacity of Cooperatives to Achieve Sustainable Growth and Development’ is intended to deepen the informal sector of the economy by unveiling the Cooperative Inclusive Strategy to access finance, healthcare, pension and housing.
While delivering his address, the SSA (Disability Matters) to the President, Dr Sam Ankeli, said cooperatives should build capacity for members, adding that any decision made knowledgeably would achieve better results.
Similarly, HRH the Ohinoyi of Koton-Karfe, Alhaji Abdulrazaq S. Isakoto, said the agency should do all it could so that the grassroots benefitted from the programme.
