‘Andy Uba did not forge certificate’
The Chairman of the Senate Committee on Public Accounts, Senator Andy Uba (APC, Anambra) did not forge any certificate, a coalition of Civil Societies on Movement for Good Governance, has said.
A report on alleged certificate forgery involving Uba, who recently decamped from the PDP to the APC, has been trending on social media.
Chairman of the group, Dr Ajibade Sunday, described the allegation as uncalled for and a mere distraction.
In a statement issued yesterday, he said all the schools attended by the senator were listed in his official profile to ease investigation and confirmation by any serious minded Nigerian.
Also, a coalition of Civil Society Groups (CCSG) has decried increasing blackmail against public officers, saying it’s an unwelcome development capable of derailing democratic development.
The president of CCSG, Comrade Etuk Bassey, said that there was no iota of truth in the accusation that Senator Uba does not have genuine certificates.
“His certificates have been confirmed to be genuine after exchange of correspondences with all concerned institutions and the resulting responses attesting to the authenticity and validity of same.
“Some desperate, greedy and self-serving politicians have been found to be behind the shenanigan aimed at placing on Senator Uba the burden of proof in a bid to ultimately destroy his image,” he said.
