Family says Adeleke’s autopsy result not ready Cautions media against ‘unfounded’ rumours

- From Hameed Oyegbade, Osogbo

The family of the late Senator Isiaka Adeleke has said that the result of the autopsy conducted on the remains of the deceased is not ready and the media should not pass unfounded insinuations on the cause of the death of the senator.

Addressing a press conference at Adeleke’s country home in Ede, Osun State yesterday, the younger brother of the late Senator, Dr Deji Adeleke, said the family was unhappy about social media speculations.

“We are in serious pain over the sudden death of our brother, Senator Isiaka Adeleke and we are not happy over the way people are speculating about his death on the social media. We couldn’t bury him the day he died despite that he is a Muslim and it was because we needed to determine the cause of his death. That was why we conducted the autopsy before he was eventually buried the following day but the result of the autopsy is not ready yet,” Deji Adeleke said.

He stated that doctors had said it would take a couple of weeks for the result to come out. “We therefore appeal to those speculating on social media about the cause of the death of Senator Isiaka Adeleke to desist,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Osun State branch of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) has denied the claim that one of its members was arrested in connection with the death of the late Adeleke.

In a statement jointly signed by the Chairman of NMA, Dr Tokunbo Olajumoke and Secretary, Dr Olalekan Ajayi, the body said no doctor was implicated or arrested over Adeleke’s death.
