Over 15 suspected kidnappers arrested in Taraba

About 15 persons suspected to be kidnappers were arrested by the police at sabon Gida village in Gassol local area of Taraba State.

A source at Sabon Gida village who do not want his name in print told Daily Trust in a telephone interview that the suspects were arrested by the police during a raid.

The source further stated that activities of kidnappers in the area became worrisome as wealthy individual­s no longer sleep in their houses to avoid being abducted.

He said in the last few months, a number of wealthy persons were abducted in the area and millions of Naira paid as ransom to secure their release.

Daily Trust finding further revealed other suspected kidnappers were also arrested in Bali local government area of the state by the police.

The suspects were alleged to be part of kidnapping gang that terrorized Gassol, Bali, Gashaka and Donga local government areas of the state in recent time.

Taraba police public relation officer, DSP David Misel when contacted confirmed the arrest of persons in part of Gassol and Bali local government areas suspected to be kidnappers but could not disclose the figure of suspects arrested.

DSP Misel told Daily Trust in a telephone interview that the suspects arrested were being investigat­ed adding that media would be briefed on the outcome of the police finding.

He assured that Taraba police command would not relent in its efforts to flush out kidnappers and other criminals out of the state and solicited the assistance and cooperatio­n of members of public by providing useful informatio­n about suspected individual­s.

It could be recalled that more than 50 persons were abducted in part of Gassol, Bali, Gashaka and Donga local government areas of the state in recent Months and millions of Naira paid as ransom.
