…Group wants Senate to probe Shehu Sani’s credentials
A group, Kaduna Central People’s Forum (KCPF) has called on the Senate to investigate Senator Shehu Sani over alleged certificate forgery and perjury.
Addressing newsmen in Kaduna on Wednesday, the group’s Chairman and Secretary, Malam Muhammad Edris and Alhaji Aminu Sha’aibu, called on the Inspector General of Police, the Attorney General of the Federation and INEC to work together and investigate the matter.
The group said at the time the 2015 Senatorial election was conducted, Senator Sani was not qualified to vie for the position “given that he lied on oath to INEC.”
“For starters, Shehu Sani claimed on oath in his deposition to INEC that he undertook his secondary school education between 1981 and 1984 at Government Science College, Kagara, under the Senior Secondary School (SSS) system.
“This claim is clearly false as 6-3-3-4 system of education was not in place in the country during the material period,” they said.
The group said while Sani was in secondary school up to 1989 as indicated in his INEC affidavit of personal particulars, it would be impossible for him to, at the same time, attend the Kaduna Polytechnic between 1984 and 1986 for his National Diploma (ND) in Water Engineering.
“These inherent contradictions provoked further poser on the number of years Shehu Sani spent in the secondary school,” the group said.
When contacted, Senator Sani’s Special Adviser on Politics and Ideology, Suleiman Ahmed, declined comments saying the proper thing to do was to go to the institutions where the documents were earned to confirm the claims.
“People cannot just wake up with spurious claims and you expect us to give it credibility by responding. These are weighty allegations which cannot be treated by mere verbal counter; so I urge journalists to do the right thing if they want to be fair,” he stated.
