15 of our members killed in Taraba - MACBAN
Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders’ Association (MACBAN), Taraba State branch, has alleged that 15 of its members were killed in Takum and Ussa local government areas of state.
The chairman of the association in the state Malam Sahabi Tukur said during an interview with Daily Trust that about 1200 members were missing while hundreds herds of cattle taken away.
He alleged that herders in the two local government areas were attacked by attacked by Kuteb following disagreement between a herder and a farmer.
Tukur said thousands of herders were trapped in the area and urged police and soldiers in Takum to help and get out their members and animals out of the area.
The state police commissioner, Yunana Babas, told journalists yesterday that six herders men and 5 Kuteb were killed in a clash in Takum and Ussa local government areas.
He said the clash was sparked up following the killing of a kutep man allegedly by a herd man at a stream in Takum local government area.
Mr Babas said a stakeholders’ meeting was held in the area in an effort to control the situation.
He said police and other security agents were drafted to the area to maintain peace and order while the herdsmen would be assisted to search for their missing members and animals.
